Why I Choose to Gather on October 1?

Written by Anne Miranda

I am first generation Canadian.
I was born in the capital of Canada. This is my home and native land.
I live in beautiful British Columbia.
I am strong and free.
I love Canada.
I am the first generation in my family to choose to have relationship with the God of the universe, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

I choose to ‘Gather’ on October 1st in Toronto because I want to celebrate what God is doing in the lives of women in our nation. The Spirit of God is motivating women to mobilize in our designated homes, churches, schools and our communities, causing an impact all over this globe.

As we serve our Saviour in our streams across this nation, the Father has designed for these streams to begin to collide. I see it in my city, my province, and now the nation. Waves of women are collaborating like never before, coming together for a moment in time to make history, to connect, to encourage one another, to spur each other on to good works (Hebrews 10:24).

I also choose to gather because of what happens AFTER the gathering is over. The gathering cannot simply be about an emotional high, there has been too much of that. My prayer is that the ministry leader, the teacher, the mom, the doctor, the interior designer, the student, the politician, the plumber, the architect, the lawyer, the dental hygienist, the administrative assistant, the Uber driver, the grandma, the loyal friend, or whomever attends Gather on October 1st would return to the assignment that God has given her to complete, armed with hope, inspiration, joy, love, fervour, steadfastness and a devotion to follow Jesus wholeheartedly.

With a glowing heart I am seeing women rise from coast to coast, accepting the invitation to gather together, connect and till the soil in our home, Canada.

I look forward to seeing you in Toronto!
