TRUE Peace

By: Brooke Nicholls

I remember going to bed one night back in March and for the first time ever experiencing a racing heart. What is this feeling? Is it the coffee? Is it husband butterflies? (cause I still get those, duh lol) I just couldn’t understand what was happening in my body. Until it hit me… this was some form of an anxiety attack because I was sad, worried, afraid and my heart felt like a battlefield.

In that moment all alone, I knew what I needed to do. Ask the One who promises to give peace that surpasses all understanding for … peace.

Philippians 4:7 tells us that, “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

All I did that night was ask, while remembering that my hope is found in His promises of peace. And friends, this promise of peace isn’t inclusive to just me.. it’s for you too. As my heart and mind shifted from the worries, stresses and fears of my current realities to WHO I knew God to be as comforter and friend, my heart began to slow down and I could fully catch my breath again.

God doesn’t relent. Meaning, when we need Him the most, He doesn’t abandon us in our fears or worries. Instead, He draws close and the comfort of His love takes away our fears.

Don’t run from Him today, but choose to embrace His gentle whisper as He breathes His peace over you …

Breathe deep the comfort of His love and remember that it’s His sweet peace that holds you when you’re broken, that passes all understanding and calms all fears and anxieties.

Praying Psalm 23:4 (TPT) over you today:

God, You remain close to us and lead us through our darkest valleys.

Your authority is our strength and our peace and we rest in the truth that the comfort of your love takes away ALL our fear.

Thank you Lord for drawing close and reminding us that we’ll never be lonely, for you are near.

Amen
