Motivation Monday - God's Timing is Best

God’s timing is the best.

This is a revelation that I’ve admittedly struggled to hold onto. As a goal-oriented, vision-casting, type A individual, I have lived a good portion of my life setting goals and preparing for them, or as I would like to think, taking steps of faith in the seemingly right direction.

Now, of course, there is wisdom in preparation, just as Proverbs 24:27 indicates.

Prepare your work outside;

get everything ready for yourself in the field,

and after that build your house.

But what happens when the work has begun, the field has been prepared, and the foundation dug, but the house has not made visible progress?

What happens when, in all our wisdom, the counsel of our faith community, the miracle God has promised is not coming to pass?

What then?

A few years ago, my husband and I were looking to purchase our first home. In the natural, it seemed impossible, so defeat crept in. Friends around us were homeowners, and we admittedly felt behind schedule.

Despite our planning and prayers, the progress was slower than expected. That waiting season was difficult, and our victory wasn’t in sight.

Miraculously, six months later, God provided us with our first home, which had everything I had asked for. It was an incredible testament to His faithfulness.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-9 reshaped my perspective, especially verses 1 and 6:

1 For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven

6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.

Today, I navigate a challenging season as I deal with friendship losses, the resulting heartache, and shattered expectations.

I found myself asking God: Why this loss? When will the promises that I am standing on come to pass?

God lovingly reminded me of our home's miraculous purchase and Ecclesiastes 3:1-9.

Ironically, my questions now were the same as we looked for our home. However, that despair is no longer present because I decided to wait on Him and trust His divine timing.

Something within me shifted as a result of this decision.

Some of my greatest life anchors have been forged in the waiting seasons.

I’ve learned to trust that He is working ALL things out for my good.

I’ve learned to ask myself, what is God trying to show me in this season?

I’ve learned that I can miss the lesson if I’m hyper-fixated on the outcome.

I want to encourage you that God’s timing is the best. We may not understand what He’s doing, but He is sovereign, and your miracle will happen.

If you’re feeling downcast, look back and note a few moments where He showed up after a waiting season.

This will serve as a tangible reminder of His incredible faithfulness.

As you wait, embrace the lessons and keep them close to your heart. They will prove invaluable in the future, and you'll be amazed at the testimony you'll declare when you patiently trust Him.
