Season 2, Episode 019: Joy Smith

CoHost Kaitlyn interviews Joy on her amazing life and career in politics and working for social justice.

About Joy

Joy Smith, Founder & President of the Joy Smith Foundation, was a teacher for 23 years before she entered Parliament. She made Canadian history as the first sitting MP to amend the Criminal Code twice, both times to protect victims of human trafficking. Over the years she has helped countless young victims who have been exploited or trafficked by their abusers. Joy Smith’s faith caused her to answer the call of God on her life regarding this injustice. After 11 years in Parliament, Joy Smith retired and now tirelessly volunteers full time for her foundation, fighting for the rights of women and girls in Canada. Founded in 2011, the Joy Smith Foundation is a registered charity which seeks to end human trafficking in Canada, by raising awareness through public education, and by providing funds to frontline organizations that rescue and rehabilitate victims of this heinous crime.
