Day 32: Trust
Isaiah 26:3-4 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.”
Psalm 9:10 "And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."
Ephesians 3:17 “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”
Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
- Trusting God is a lifelong pursuit. But it is a pursuit worth your time and energy. Trust is meant to be a response, not something you make happen. Prayerfully ask Jesus to reveal himself in deeper ways so you can respond to the overwhelming reality of His faithfulness, character and leadership in your life.
- Ask God to uncover whatever lie is keeping you from trusting Him. Ask the Spirit for a revelation of God's faithfulness in those areas. Ask God to help you trust in his promise of faithfulness. Listen quietly as He speaks.
- Has trust been broken in your life? Do you sense God asking you to trust again? Maybe not even in a specific person, but in Him? In others? Talk to Jesus about the hurt, disappointment, or tension you feel in being asked to trust again. Lay your burdens at the foot of the cross and ask Him to transfer your trust to God in that hard situation, rather than take matters into your own hands.
- Isaiah 26 tells us that those who will be kept in "perfect peace" are those "whose mind and thoughts are fixed" on God. A mind can only be fixed on God “because he trusts in Him.” Where do you need perfect peace today? Where do you need rest for your soul? Search out the promises of God. Let his steadfast love produce in you trust and hope. (Romans 15:13, Eph. 3:17)
