Three Reasons to Get Ready for the Future

When you think you are out of options, think again. You can ready yourself for a secure future
— Cathie Ostapchuk

In this time of lingering uncertainty, it’s natural for you to want to hold on to the status quo and be a bit fearful of making plans for the future. Who knows what lays ahead?

I am reminded of the woman described in Proverbs 31 whose life sounds like a dream. But did you know that the inspiration for this chapter came from Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother, who gave him the words to describe the ideal woman? And Bathsheba had a less than ideal life.  She was taken from her secure home by King David who used his power to use her physically, murder her husband, and make a child with her who died before he could speak.

She knew the pain of uncertainty and feeling powerless in a situation. And yet she rose to her destiny and raised a son who feared God and whom she instructed to describe the kind of woman who could weather any storm – who could flourish even in a pandemic.

This is the woman described:

“She girds herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task] and makes her arms strong and firm. Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it” (Proverbs 31:18, 25)

When you think you are out of options, choices, and dates in your calendar, what you can be doing in this season is becoming strong and resilient spiritually, mentally, and physically.

That option is open to you and if you want to be rejoicing over instead of fearing the future – then get yourself ready. Here’s why:

·      Your position in Christ is strong and secure.

·      You are defined by your strength, not your weakness.

·      You can carry what God has called you to with dignity, not shame

I believe in your ability to rise to these uncertain days with hope and with joy, because God is the source of all you need.

 You are loved,

 Cathie
