Day 28: Beauty

God delights in your beauty. You are fearfully and wonderfully made

God delights in your beauty. You are fearfully and wonderfully made

Psalm 45:11 “Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honour him, for he is your lord.”
1 Samuel 16:7 “But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

  • You are beautiful. An image bearer of a beautiful God. He created you to reflect aspects of His beauty and His character. In what ways do you find yourself concerned about your appearance? Offer these fears and concerns up to the Lord, asking Him to remind you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139)
  • The Bible does not say that outer appearance doesn’t matter, rather not to be concerned about outer beauty. Don’t let it define you, cause stress or make it your most important priority. God would rather see women work on becoming beautiful on the inside — the kind of beauty that never fades and lasts forever. (1 Peter 3:4) Get honest with God, ask forgiveness for being self-focused and consumed with your self-image in the wrong way.
  • Pray for our younger generation of women who are trying to measure up to the images they see on television, in magazines and in movies that cause them to starve themselves, or do other harmful things to their bodies. Pray for these young women to see their worth and find their value in Jesus Christ alone. Pray for protection for any words said to them about their physical appearance by other insecure girls and the lies this unkindness fosters.  Pray for a breakthrough of truth in their lives. If someone specific comes to mind today, stop and pray for them. Consider writing a truth filled note to encourage them sharing honest thoughts about how you see beauty in them.

Today when you look in the mirror to check your outward appearance, do a “soul check”. What thoughts come into your mind and heart? Decide what the focus of your day will be: the hair and the skin, or the beautiful woman within? Decide to Be-You-tiful today.
