Gather Wholeness: Worship In Community
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” Psalm 89:1
Gather Wholeness - Worship
There is something about old traditional hymns. Something familiar, something beautiful, something that rallies the church deep in its bones as we a sing "How Great Thou Art", "It Is Well With My Soul" or "Amazing Grace How Sweet The Sound"...
It is as though when we sing these hymns we are joined in chorus by echoes of the generations that came before. We feel for a moment almost like we share breath with every heart and every voice that has offered those same words toward heaven.
They remind us that while intensely personal, worship is also meant to be experienced in community. That community encourages us and reminds us that we are all one in Christ and it calls to mind the day that is coming where we will join all our voices together in one chorus in worship of the King.
So since we stand surrounded by all those who have gone before, an enormous cloud of witnesses, let us drop every extra weight, every sin that clings to us and slackens our pace, and let us run with endurance the long race set before us.
