Motivation Monday - Rachel and Leah
Last week I had the privilege of attending the stunning Sisterhood YXE Conference in Saskatoon with my sister. Women leaders chose a position of humility as we championed each others’ ministries instead of comparing our success. My time with the sister who I have spent years comparing myself to was marked by love and care for each others’ journeys.
I think of the story of Leah and Rachel in Genesis 29 and 30. Two women marked by competition for a man’s love and constant comparison to each other.
What will you display today to the world that shows you have faith in a God great enough to deliver you?
In the end, you might get want you want,
but end up losing more in the process.
In the end, you learn that
another woman’s success does not diminish yours.
Envy doesn’t solve our problems or get us what we want. Envy makes us blind to what we have and miserable because of what we think we lack. Envy causes us to devalue our own identity, greatly diminishing our potential to influence.
When God chooses to elevate and raise up another woman, He doesn’t withdraw anything from your bank account.
Don’t be like Leah and Rachel.
Don’t chase after someone else’s dream.
Don’t imagine how much better someone else’s life is.
Don’t compare yourself to everyone around you.
Don’t diminish someone else’s achievements
Our temptation to compare distracts us from being who God has called us to be. Rather than focus on what God has purposefully designed us for, we are robbed of leading from a place of security and confidence.
We are meant to champion each other. When one rises, we all rise. Collaboration must always trump competition. Don’t envy someone else’s success. Focus on all that is yours in Christ.
I believe in you! God bless.
