Motivation Monday - Why Wisdom Matters Now More Than Ever

True wisdom does not separate, polarize, fragment, or pull apart.

True wisdom brings together, is bridge-building, is considerate, discerning, unprejudiced, and  committed to treating all humankind with equal dignity and honour.

— Cathie Ostapchuk

In the midst of all of the rhetoric -  the ever-rising pulsating voices amplified daily and invading our screens and our minds with our permission - there exists a steady, unwavering, unchanging, voice of wisdom that is accessible to all of us who call Jesus Lord.

We bear witness to the collateral damage of wisdom that comes from external sources. Differences of opinions expand into ever-widening chasms of polarizing defiant rants calling for justice for their side of the issue.

We bear witness to the fractures of family life, the fragmentation of individuals, as we wrestle with the emotions brought on by the voices of a disenfranchised world. We have trouble responding with clarity to circumstances that require full engagement of mind, emotion and will. We wonder if we are resilient enough to rise from this moment.

We bear witness to the fact that wisdom meted out by political, medical and even religious leaders can change every day. We may be losing our hope and wonder whose voice we can ever trust again.

Wisdom matters now more than ever.

Not the wisdom of the world. Not the wisdom of weary.

But the wisdom of the Word.

True wisdom does not separate, polarize, fragment, or pull apart.

True wisdom brings together, is bridge-building, is considerate, discerning, unprejudiced, and committed to treating all humankind with equal dignity and honour.

I will let various versions of James 3:17-18 speak for themselves.

The outcome of living by godly wisdom produces grace-filled outcomes.

The outcomes of following wisdom from worldly circumstances only serve

to diminish our humanity.

James 3:17, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).

James 3:17 TLB

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness. Then it is peace-loving and courteous. It allows discussion and is willing to yield to others; it is full of mercy and good deeds. It is wholehearted and straightforward and sincere.

James (Jacob) 3:17 TPT

But the wisdom from above is always pure, filled with peace, considerate and teachable. It is filled with love and never displays prejudice or hypocrisy in any form

James 3:17-18, The Message

Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.

I pray for wisdom for decision-makers.

I pray for grace and hope for all who have found their worlds upended without their permission.

I pray we will have hope to see beyond the present and believe that we can rise by praying for godly wisdom.

This is the time. Time to pray for wisdom. Time to look up to the source of all wisdom. Time to discern if those who have the loudest voices right now – voices you follow – align with all you believe to be true about the One who declared “I AM” and that was enough.

Align all else you hear with His Word.

Ask:  do the outcomes of wisdom of the world align with the outcomes of the wisdom from the Word?

2 Corinthians 4:17-18
We view our slight, short-lived troubles in the light of eternity. We see our difficulties as the substance that produces for us an eternal, weighty glory far beyond all comparison, because we don’t focus our attention on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but the unseen realm is eternal.

Psalm 51:7
“Lord, shape a Genesis {new} week out of the chaos of my life.”

I’m here, with an open heart and open mind and open hands, praying for more wisdom from above. And I pray for you where you are. May you receive wisdom as grace in your life today. It matters now more than ever.

I believe in you.
God bless.
Cathie
